Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak doesn't have to be like the rest of us to get his new iPad, but he wants to be one of the real people.

Scroll down below to see footage of Wozniak waiting in line Friday for the new iPad at the Westfield Mall in Century City, Calif., near Los Angeles.

In an exclusive interview with Woz early Friday, a woman from whatstrending.com tells Wozniak that he could've pre-ordered his new iPad and receive it via Fed Ex or, with his Apple connections, gotten his hand on the device before any of us instead of waiting in line.

I'd rather be in there and be like the real people, Wozniak said. I want to be one of the people who line up and wait all night. Apple's just that important to us. There's so many of us. Why not? You know, you don't live forever...

The new iPad was announced by Apple CEO Tim Cook March 7. Among the highly touted features of the new iPad are its crisp retina display, full 1080p video capability and 4G LTE coverage. Today is the first day Apple fans get their hands on the new iPad.
