Watch April The Giraffe Giving Birth Live Stream: Baby Kicks Continue But Calf Not Coming Out
The wait for April the giraffe giving birth on live feed seems to be never ending as there is no sign of calf the coming out even after the animal has been pregnant for more than 15 months. As thousands remain glued to the live stream started by Animal Adventure Park, where the pregnant giraffe is housed, the upstate New York zoo continues to update its more than a million fans on the animal's health.
In its Saturday update, the park said that April's calf has been kicking and her belly is big now but labor could take longer. Giraffes are usually pregnant for 15 months but in April's case, active labor is yet to be reached.
"All is well on the giraffe front! April keeps us waiting. Keeper and vet reports today have no remarkable change. Though this may seem redundant - it's actually a good thing! Full udders, huge belly, mom ready - we just need the labor process to begin - so we are waiting for that final stage," the park said in its evening update.

In another update, the park gave out some trivia facts on how giraffe mothers protect their calf from any danger.
"As we have discussed, giraffes can defend themselves with the power of their kick - which is bone crushing to predators such as lions, hyenas, etc. Mother giraffes, will attempt to stand over their calves during attacks. Thwarting off attackers with her deadly kicks," the park wrote on its Facebook page.
The zoo has also said earlier that they will try to film April’s active labor, though she might not be positioned the right way when the calf comes.
When the calf is finally born, it will fall nearly 6-feet to the ground as giraffe mothers give birth standing up. This is April's fourth calf and the first with mate Oliver. The zoo will have a vote to determine its name.
