Video of a dog scaring off a lion and a lioness has gone viral on social media, with people appreciating the canine for being "brave." The incident took place in the Ngorongoro crater, Tanzania.

The one-minute video, posted on Twitter by Susanta Nanda of the Indian Forest Services, starts off with the canine staring at the animals as it unexpectedly runs towards them. Within seconds, the lion and the lioness get up and leap towards the canine. The "brave" dog first tries to scare away the lioness by barking at her before shifting its focus on to the lion.

The canine then attempts to escape. However, when it notices the lion and the lioness following it, the canine turns back and begins to bark again aggressively. Within moments, the dog pounces at the lion and grabs the thick mane around its head. After frightening away both the animals, the dog escapes. The lion and lioness stare at the canine as it limps off the scene.

"Never back down, Even if odds are against you," the officer captioned the video.

The video has since gone viral with people appreciating the dog for its courage.

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog," a user tweeted.

"Nice video such a brave dog no matter who stands in front of you be confident," another user wrote.

Some also felt that the lion and the lioness let go of the dog as they were either "full" or in "sublime mood."

"I think the lion was full or else it would have killed the dog easily," one person wrote.

"Any other day that puny dog would have been shredded to pieces, if not for the sublime mood the couple was in," wrote another.

On Sunday, July 26, Wild India posted a video on Twitter in which a lion and a lioness were seen fighting at the Gir National Park in the Indian state of Gujarat. In the 22-second clip, the lion and the lioness were seen roaring at each other before the lioness swipes her paw across the lion's face. The video went viral, leaving people awestruck.
