President Donald Trump commented on the physical appearance of French first lady Brigitte Macron on Thursday and praised her for being in "such good shape," during his state visit to France, according to videos that surfaced on social media.

After a tour of the Hotel des Invalides where Napoleon Bonaparte and other French war heroes are buried, Trump made the comment and then looked at French President Emmanuel Macron and repeated his words: "She's in such good physical shape" and then turned back to the French first lady and said "Beautiful." However, Brigette’s response was unclear in the videos.

Earlier in the day, when the U.S. president was welcomed in Paris, Trump and Brigitte attempted to have a handshake and extended their hands toward each other. However, it did not go that well, after which the pair went on to embrace for a traditional kiss on the cheek. Later on, they rejoined their hands while they spoke.

Trump met with the French President on Thursday. The two leaders and their wives dined at a Michelin-starred restaurant in the Eiffel Tower.

The White House did not comment on the exchange of words between Trump and the French first lady.

However, social media was quick to react to the video with many users denouncing Trump’s comments as inappropriate.

Trump, 71, has been previously criticized for his comments on women and they were also deemed sexist, including the ones he made while he was running for the presidency. At the time, had criticized the appearances of former presidential candidates Carly Fiorina and Hillary Clinton. He also commented on the looks of comedian Rosie O’ Donnell, media figure Ariana Huffington and models Kim Kardashian and Heidi Klum. His presidential campaign was rocked by the release of a 2005 recording of "Access Hollywood" tape in October where he spoke about grabbing women by the crotch, according to the Guardian.

In June, Trump launched a personal Twitter attack against MSNBC's "Morning Joe's" co-anchor Mika Brzezinski, calling her "crazy." The president said she was "bleeding badly from a facelift," and also mentioned that he rejected her at his hotel in Mar-a-Lago. Social media users criticized the president severely and denounced his remark saying it was undignified for someone who occupied a public office to put out such comments.

Also in June, Trump called an Irish Journalist Caitriona Perry to his desk while he was on a phone call with Ireland’s newly-appointed Prime Minister Leo Varadkar and made an overtly objectifying comment, saying: "She has a nice smile on her face. So I bet she treats you well."

Trump has launched sexist tirades against several women on Twitter since he was elected to run for office.

Trump said "Sex and the City" star Sarah Jessica Parker was the "unsexiest woman alive," referring to a 2008 poll by Maxim magazine which said the same.

During his presidential campaign, an anti-Trump political action committee, which supported Trump's opponent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), released an advertisement shaming first lady Melania Trump for posing nude in an edition of the British GQ magazine in 2000. In response to the act, Trump went after Cruz' wife, Heidi, by threatening to "spill the beans on her," Cosmopolitan reported.

In 2012, Trump called the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington, "unattractive both inside out."
