The U.S. Women's National Team marches toward the World Cup Finals.
In the ninth minute, the U.S. got on the board with a goal from Lauren Cheney, and have jumped out to a 1-0 lead over France.
Cheney delivered a right footed shot from very close range to the bottom right corner. Heather O'Reilly got the assist on a fine cross.
France, however, has been more on the offensive than the U.S., as they have 13 shots on goal compared the the US's five. In the 31st minute, the US dodged a bullet when a shot from France hit the crossbar.
The winner of the match will face the winner of Japan-Sweden, who will play at 2:45 EST. The World Cup Final will be played on Sunday, at 2:45 EST, in Frankfurt.
The U.S. has not won the World Cup since 1999.
