A Georgia high school teacher has been put on administrative leave after threatening to shoot a student who was goofing around in class.

“You screw with me you’re going to be in big a-- trouble,” said physics teacher Paul Hagan in a video that was posted to Facebook Monday. “Don’t smile at me. That’s how people like you get shot. I got a bet. I bet by the time you’re 21 somebody’s going to put a bullet in your head. OK. And it might be me the one who does it.”

The incident happened two weeks ago at Rockdale Career Academy, in Rockdale County Georgia, but school officials said they began investigating Thursday.

“We were made aware of the video Thursday afternoon and immediately launched an investigation into this personnel matter, which is ongoing at this time,” said Cindy Ball, Rockdale County Public Schools’ director of strategy and innovation, in a statement to Raw Story Tuesday.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Hagan apologized to the 11th grader after he made the comments, but his mother didn’t think that was enough.

“I think it’s a terroristic threat on my son’s life, that I definitely don’t take lightly,” said April Carr to WSB-TV, an Atlanta-based ABC affiliate. “I want him fired. And I want him fired and I want charges pressed against him.”

WSB-TV reported that Carr has filed a police report about the incident and has also started a petition online to ask for the teacher’s firing.
