[WATCH] Jay Leno Drives The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, And It Doesn’t Disappoint
Avid car collector Jay Leno gave a preview of the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 in an installment of “Jay Leno’s Garage.” Here, Leno revealed what’s under the hood of the muscle car as well as giving some insight into how the iconic muscle car drives.
To help with the tour of the GT500, Ford’s Dave Pericak, director of icons, was on hand to make sure that no detail of the car was overlooked. Pericak rode with Leno for the test drive that allowed the former “Tonight’s Show” host to see exactly how powerful the GT500 really is.
With 760 horsepower under the hood, Leno was certainly impressed with the sheer power and drivability of the GT500. He remarked, “The greatest compliment I can give it is, it’s a nice driving car. You just want to drive to Vegas. You just want to go somewhere. And you’re going to go fast.”
Fast indeed as the GT500 packs 5.2 liters into a V8 that redlines at 7,500 rpm, making it the most powerful street-legal car from Ford. Plus, the car reportedly can hit a quarter-mile in the mid-10 second range.
The 34-minute video overviews all the specs and features of the 2020 GT500, including the optional Carbon Fiber Track package that happened to be fitted on this rendition of the car. Leno also cruised the streets of California with the vehicle, giving it a chance to throttle up on few occasions to show off its powerful force and speed.
Leno is the owner of a few different Mustang models, including a new GT350, Motor1 reported.
