The House impeachment hearings were scheduled to hear from eight witnesses this week who have direct knowledge of either President Trump's July 25 phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart or a conversation between Trump and U.S. Ambassador Gordon Sondland during which the president allegedly asked about the status of investigations into his political rivals.

The testimony kicks off Tuesday with four witnesses: Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, European affairs director at the National Security Council, and Jennifer Williams, Vice President Pence’s special adviser on Europe and Russia, testify in the morning session: Special envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker and former National Security Council Russia expert Timothy Morrison were to testify in the afternoon.
