"Married at First Sight" matches strangers who are a perfect match on paper. Before they meet their spouses at the altar, however, they have to tell their parents about their decision. Erik's mom is shocked in an International Business Times exclusive video from Wednesday's premiere.

Erik tells his mother he is getting married at first sight. "This is crazy," she says.

He understands that they're a traditional, conservative family, but Erik believes he is ready for this life-changing process. He's been married once previously (the first "MAFS" divorcee groom), and he wants to finally settle down and start a family.

"Erik, I do have concerns about this. There is more to marriage than just saying I love you," his mom warns him.

She wonders if he really understands the work that goes into holy matrimony.

"I'm a little nervous," Erik's mom tells the cameras when he isn't around. "I'm old, traditional and this is different for me. I just hope that he sees the light."

"Married at First Sight" Season 12 premieres Wednesday at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
