KEY POINTS

  • Melania Trump's South Korea visit
  • Melania Trump and Choi Min-ho
  • Melania Trumo FLOTUS

Melana Trump was being upstaged by Korean pop star Choi Minho in a video.

On Monday, Minho celebrated his 28th birthday. A fan shared on Twitter a clip of Minho and the first lady of the United States where the K-pop singer visibly upstages Melania.

“It's still minho's birthday in my country so here's one of his most iconic moments when school girls couldn't care less for melania trump,” the caption read.

In the short clip, the FLOTUS is standing beside Minho amid a group of Korean girls. When the young ladies notice Minho they go gaga over him while forgetting about Melania.

The SHINee member smiles at the girl who couldn’t contain her joy after seeing him. Melania notices how the girls react to Minho’s presence, so the FLOTUS turns to the K-pop superstar with mouth wide open, she smiles and taps Minho’s arms.

The same clip was also shared on YouTube two years ago. One netizen said that she lived in America and would be more excited to see Minho than Melania. Another said that she was an American and would probably react the same if she would see Minho next to the FLOTUS.

Although more teens noticed Minho, some praised the FLOTUS, too. One said that Melania spoke well and was so kind to the teenagers. Another said that it was the only time she saw Donald Trump’s wife smile like that, NBC7 reported.

Many were convinced that Minho stole the limelight from the U.S. first lady at the time. The incident happened on Nov. 7, 2017 when Melania visited South Korea.

The FLOTUS was there to talk to the South Korean middle school students during the “Girls Play 2!” initiative, an Olympic public diplomacy outreach campaign at the U.S. Ambassador’s Residence in Seoul.

In related news, Melania and Ivanka Trump are reportedly splitting and will continue to do so. Donald’s wife and daughter reportedly shared a warm relationship until they moved to the White House.

Kate Bennett also revealed in her book “Free, Melania: The Unauthorized Biography” that the first lady and first daughter were “cordial but not close.” Melania allegedly felt that her daughter-in-law was “invading her turf.”
