Two Florida police officers are being hailed as heroes after their quick-thinking saved the life of a 14-month-old girl who was choking on chicken nuggets. A video went viral over the weekend showing the officers performing the Heimlich maneuver on the girl that helped her dislodge the piece of food.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Officer Robert Ayala and Officer Rafael Guadelupe were on a lunch break at the food court at The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens when they noticed a mother frantically trying to stop her daughter from choking. The officers immediately rushed toward the mother as she yelled for help.

Ayala was seen in the video grabbing the baby, turning her face down and beginning to strike her on the back. When that didn't work, he struck harder and the nugget popped out of the child's mouth.

The girl's mother, Ana Jaramillo de Graham, wrote a letter to the department to thank the officers.

"There are not enough words to express my immense gratitude. You saved my daughter’s life today and I will be forever grateful. You were quick to assess the situation and proceeded to do exactly what my daughter Lucia needed to do to pass the chicken lodged in her throat. God knew you were right next to us to help us. You also provided so much support and kindness when the issue was resolved. Thank you for being such a great person," she wrote.

There have been several such instances in the past where the officers' quick action saved the life of toddlers.

Earlier last month, a New Jersey toddler who nearly drowned in a backyard pool was revived by a pair of fast-acting cops. The dramatic rescue was recorded on police body camera.

Police arrived at a Newark home moments after the 2-year-old girl became tangled in an inflatable pool toy and could not lift her head out of the water. Officers responding to the situation "flipped her over onto her stomach, onto" the officer's knee and back taps were applied to revive the child. The video showed the little girl choking and struggling to breathe. However, she finally was able to breathe and was rushed to a hospital for further check-up.
