Watch The Two New ‘Man of Steel’ Teaser Trailers And Get A Glimpse At 2013’s Superman Film [VIDEOS]
At Comic-Con 2012, Warner Bros. gave a teaser trailer for its 2013 Superman film, Man of Steel, its premiere. The trailer was met with roaring applause and enthusiasm, but it was nowhere to be found online (except in grainy bootlegs). Now, after a week's wait, the studio has released a pair of trailers on the Web.
The two trailers share much of the same footage. Both feature images of a young Clark Kent playing as a child and attempting to find himself in the world. And, at the end of each, we can see Clark in full Superman costume flying fast enough to set off a sonic boom. However, there is a difference between them: Each is narrated by a different character.
Both of Superman's fathers get chances to speak to a young Clark Kent in the trailer. His adopted Earthling father Jonathan Kent gives him advice on growing up, while his biological Kryptonian father Jor-El encourages Clark to be a shining example to humanity.
Jonathan Pa Kent's speech to his son is all about choice. He lets young Clark Kent know that he will have to choose good over evil, and that his actions will have a profound effect on the world.
You're not just anyone. One day, you're gonna have to make a choice. You have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be. Whoever that man is -- good character or bad -- It's gonna change the world, Kent says.
By contrast, Jor-El's speech is more optimistic. He knows that Superman will be an ideal figure on his new home world and encourages him to take up that mantle.
You will give the people an ideal to strive toward. They'll race behind you, they will stumble. They will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders, Jor-El says.
Man of Steel, directed by 300 director Zach Snyder and produced by The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan, will be released nex June 14.
