WATCH: UFC Star Paddy Pimblett Punishes Internet Troll In Sparring Session
In the world of sports, the know-it-all fan is perhaps as big a part of the game as the athletes themselves.
Every sport has a group of "armchair pundits" that believe they can do better than those athletes who have worked and trained for years to get to where they are.
Once in a while, these internet trolls get put in their place and they learn quickly that there are levels to being a sports professional, and more often than not, those levels aren't reached by roaming social media or the comments sections of websites.
This was the case for one unfortunate 'keyboard warrior," who had the misfortune of going head-to-head with UFC lightweight star Paddy Pimblett.
Pimblett is without question one of the biggest and most talented stars on the UFC roster today.
The 27-year-old native of Liverpool, United Kingdom has been competing professionally for over a decade and training even longer.
In an episode of his vlog, Pimblett shared the story of an internet troll who had been talking smack on his social media pages for the past few weeks.
To get his "critic" to step up to the plate, Pimblett invited him to come into the gym and spar.
If the internet troll managed to survive, Pimblett would give him $500 as a reward.
To the fan's credit, he was pretty game as he tried his best to hang with Pimblett, even throwing some pretty impressive kicks including a crisp-looking question mark kick that had the people in the gym cheering him on.
In the end, Pimblett still beat the fan up and ultimately forced him to quit a couple of rounds in.
Pimblett's "social media annotator" earned the respect of the UFC competitor and British rapper Meekz, who even gave him a little cash for his efforts.
Pimblett had nothing but praise for the internet troll after the sparring session.
"I can't say a bad word about him, he turned up. You know what I mean? Everyone, all the other people on Instagram [saying] 'Oh, Paddy's this, Paddy's that...' If you don't turn up, you're talking [expletive]. They're all scared to turn up," Pimblett said.
One of the most popular fighters in the UFC today, Pimblett has been on an impressive tear since joining the Las Vegas-based promotion in 2021 after making a name for himself under the Cage Warriors banner.
Pimblett is currently 4-0 in the UFC and is coming off a controversial decision win over Jared Gordon at UFC 282 this past December.
With the run he's had so far, expect Pimblett to draw a big name in his next Octagon appearance.
For now, it looks like Pimblett will be keeping himself in shape by teaching internet trolls a lesson or two.
