Wayne Rooney Suffering from a Hamstring Injury? Misses Stoke Match
Manchester United face Stoke City without Wayne Rooney, as news has surfaced that Rooney is hampered with a hamstring injury.
Numerous sources have reported that Rooney was nursing a hamstring injury, within an hour of the match. Rooney went on Twitter with this post: Gutted I'm missing game today. Hopefully ok for Tuesday. Tough game v Stoke. Hopefully 3 points. Berba 1st goal I think.
No mention of the hamstring by Rooney, but considering that hamstring injuries are difficult to gauge their effect, it's possible that Rooney could be out for an extended period.
Rooney has been playing perhaps the best football of his career in the past 10 months, and has been particularly strong in the brief 2011-2012 season. Manchester United face FC Basel on Tuesday at Old Trafford in Champions League action.
In the Stoke match, Javier Hernandez was replaced by Michael Owens, after El Chicharito suffered a knock in a goalkeeper collision in the opening minutes. Sir Alex Feruguson has to be wondering why he's been so snake-bitten with injuries to forwards.
Rooney replacement Dimitar Berbatov has given a solid performance in the first half.
