'Wayward Pines' Season 2 To Premiere In May; Everything We Know So Far
The world has been taken over by creatures known as Abbies and just one town, Wayward Pines, remains. "Wayward Pines" Season 2 will be premiering on Fox this May and a new chapter in the story will be told. New characters and old characters will come together to keep the human race alive in the show's next 10 episodes.
Season 2 is expected to pick up right where Season 1 left off. In the finale, Ben Burke (Charlie Tahan) woke up from a coma after a battle with the Abbies. When he went into town he discovered that all of the changes his father, Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon), had made were erased by Jason Higgins (Tom Stevens) and the First Generation. The First Generation put all of the adults in Wayward Pines back in suspension and returned the community to levels of high surveillance. Ben was left with the choice of either following in his father's footsteps or joining the First Generation.
After Ethan sacrificed himself in the Season 1 finale, Season 2 will have a new main character. Jason Patric will take that role as Dr. Theo Yedlin, who is a new Wayward Pines resident, according to TVLine. Yedlin will wake up in the strange community in the middle of a "rebellion," and like Ethan, he will look to find answers about Wayward Pines and keep humanity alive.
Djimon Hounsou is also going to star on the show as a series regular, according to Deadline. Hounsou will star as CJ Mitchum, who lives in Wayward Pines and is a historian of the town. He knows the ins and outs of Wayward Pines and is described as being the one person "who can provide a unique bridge between the current world of Wayward Pines and the previous world that humans inhabited." Actors Nimrat Kaur ("Homeland"), Josh Helman ("Max Max: Fury Road") and Kacey Rohl ("Hannibal") will also be new in Season 2.
In addition to new characters, fans will also get to see some familiar faces return to the series. TVLine reports that Carla Gugino will reprise her role as Kate. Gugino's role will be a limited one. It's unclear if she'll appear in flashbacks or if she will be woken up after being cryogenically frozen by the First Generation in the Season 1 finale.
Deadline reports that Terrence Howard will be coming back to the show as Sheriff Arnold Pope even though he was killed in Season 1. Other returning characters include Theresa Burke (Shannyn Sossamon), Ben Burke (Charlie Tahan), David Pilcher (Toby Jones), Nurse Pam (Melissa Leo), Megan Fisher (Hope Davis), Adam Hassler (Tim Griffin) and Jason Higgins (Tom Stevens).
"Wayward Pines" Season 2 premieres Wednesday, May 25 on Fox at 8 p.m. EDT
