WD's AV-GP GreenPower Technology 2TB Goes to AV/surveillance market
Western Digital Corp. has unveiled its new 2TB green drives providing cooler, quieter operation with less power consumption, specifically design for audio and video applications, including high-definition video for the surveillance and security market.
The new 2TB WD AV-GP line of hard drives with GreenPower Technology can save power consumption by as much as 40 percent compare to a standard HD in their respective classes. The new HD is ideal for applications such as DVRs (digital video recorders), media centers, media servers, as well as surveillance video recording because of its exceptional reliability.
Audio and video recording applications, such as DVRs, media servers, media centers and mainstream surveillance systems, often demand 24x7 operation from hard drives,” said Jim Welsh, senior vice president and general manager of WD's branded products and consumer electronics groups.
Our drives meet the demanding requirements of these markets including higher reliability, universal compatibility, low power consumption and the ability to simultaneously record multiple audio and/or high-definition video streams, Welsh said
