Is The Weeknd's New Album About Bella Hadid? Fans Seem To Think So

Turning pain and sorrow into nighttime music is The Weeknd’s specialty. His latest album, “After Hours,” dropped Thursday night and some of his fans are already convinced more than one song was written about his previous relationship with model Bella Hadid.
The Weeknd, legally known as Abel Tesfaye, hadn’t released a new album in four years, according to Entertainment Weekly, but he has experienced his fair share of heartbreak in that time.
The 30-year-old singer was in an on-again-off-again relationship with 23-year-old Hadid from April 2015 until August 2019, Elle reported, which gave him plenty of time to write a 14-track album about his feelings.
The new songs that fans specifically believe to be about Hadid are “Snowchild,” “Save Your Tears,” “Escape From LA,” “Repeat After Me,” and the title track, “After Hours.”
“She never need a man/she what a man need… Now I’m in Tribeca like I’m Jay-Z,” he sings in “Snowchild.” The song seems to pay tribute to the beginning of his and Hadid’s relationship and the time they spent living together in a condo in Tribeca, Elle reported.
“Repeat After Me (Interlude)” even became a hot topic among fans on Twitter as they discussed the allegedly “toxic” nature of his lyrics and his previous relationship.
Repeat after me sounds like weeknd is trying to convince himself she don't love him and that he doesn't care😭😭😭😭😭😭 smh the streets are cold

While other fans discussed the album in its entirety on Twitter and how they clearly know Hadid was the subject.

The “Save Your Tears” lyrics, “You could’ve asked me why I broke your heart/You could’ve told me that you fell apart/But you walked past me like I wasn’t there/And just pretended that you didn’t care,” is a possible reference to the run-in The Weeknd and Hadid had in August 2019.
And “After Hours” is filled with potential Hadid references but specifically the lines, “This time I’ll never leave/I wanna share babies/Protection, we won’t need,” which could be a nod to their speculated almost-engagement in 2018.

And finally, in one of his more revealing lines “Escape From LA,” he sings, “She closed the door and then she locked it/For me, for me.”

With these songs and the others that have yet to be dissected, it’s possible The Weeknd’s new album holds even more insights into his and Hadid’s relationship.
