Wendy Williams Ready To Get Back To Work After Psychiatric Evaluation, COVID-19 Battle

Wendy Williams is in good shape and she's ready to return to work after taking a break due to health issues, a report has revealed.

Williams, 57, previously took a break from work after she tested positive for COVID-19. But the TV host has already fully recovered and she's ready to get back to work.

"Wendy is on the mend, and doing well. There was a meeting this week, and [execs] assured staff the show will return on Oct. 4., and Wendy is ready to get back to work," an unnamed source familiar with the show's production told Page Six.

Earlier this week, Williams' brother, Tommy, gave an update about her health on his YouTube channel. According to him, he has "faith that Wendy's going to make it." He also assured her fans that her condition is "stable."

"I’ve spoken with her… she’s hanging in there. We’re praying, she’s fighting," he added.

Williams delayed the premiere date of her show due to her health problems. Initially, she planned to return to work on Sept. 20 for the 13th season premiere. However, she wasn't in good shape at the time based on a post on her Instagram.

"Wendy is dealing with some ongoing health issues and is undergoing further evaluations," the post read. "She will not be able to complete her promotional activities next week, but can't wait to be back in her purple chair on Monday, September 20th for the 13th season premiere."

In another post, she announced that she tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19. Williams pushed back the premiere to Oct. 4 to give herself time to fully recover and ensure that the production would abide by all SAG/AFTRA and DGA COVID-19 protocols.

A few days back, Williams was taken to Beth Israel Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. According to an insider, she voluntarily admitted herself to a hospital because she was struggling with mental health issues for some time.

"It has been a very difficult time for Wendy. She’s a single woman with very few friends. She lost her marriage, her mom, and is living alone," an unnamed source told Page Six. "There is a lot on her plate."

At the time, the insider said that her mental health has continued to improve. She was also improving physically. The doctors have continued to monitor her physical health.

"The Wendy Williams Show" Season 13 is set to premiere on Oct. 4.
