‘Westworld’ Season 2 Spoilers: Will Ben Barnes’ Arrogant Logan Return?

Ben Barnes’ character Logan from the HBO sci-fi show “Westworld” is a first-class jerk, but he finally got what was coming to him during the finale as his brother-in-law, William (Jimmi Simpson) sent him off riding into the sunset with nothing but his birthday suit.

In doing so, did William kill Logan? Or did he simply tame the beast inside of Logan? Many are wondering if Logan will be back in Season 2, and when asked about it by W Magazine, Barnes refused to dish out any spoilers.

“This is the problem about working for HBO and Marvel: you talk about it on pain of death,” Barnes said. “As far as I know, I’m finished with ‘Westworld’, and as far as I know, we’ve wrapped on season one, and I don’t know what's happening after that. And that’s all I’m allowed to say.”

However, his co-star Simpson earlier assured fans that Logan isn’t dead. That act simply made Logan know who is finally ready to take on the reins of the family business.

“[William's] going to send him off, he’ll get lost in the park, and it's just one more thing [Logan] has done that's not top-tier while they were on their stay,” Simpson told Business Insider.

Earlier, Simpson even reflected on Logan’s bad attitude and told Variety that it’s because he grew up as a spoiled rich kid and is used to getting what he wants. “It’s about that degree of entitlement being turned up. We all know someone who has always had everything they wanted, and some of those people are completely unable to see everyone else around them. All they’re able to do is indulge themselves,” he explained. “When Logan steps into the park he takes it to another level. He doesn’t even feel the need to be polite, because it’s not the real world.”

In comparison, William had to work hard for everything he has in life. The people who go to Westworld are rich and privileged and are raised with a silver spoon on their mouths, so William had a tough time adjusting to their world.

“William is brought in by his family member, his coworker, as a bit of a vetting process. So William is not there with any intention. He’s just there to cover himself and make sure he doesn’t do anything too sh–ty. So he’s got his eyes open and is just watching what happens,” he said.

Sadly, the park distorted William’s idealism and turned him into a hardened man - the mysterious Man in Black played by Ed Harris. This reveal was quite heartbreaking, and Simpson said fans were deeply affected by his change too because they were able to relate to him.

“I think most of us are more like William than Logan. Most of us aren’t handed everything. So we all are trained to pay attention before we make moves and figure out our surroundings. That’s what William’s doing, and that’s what most of us would do,” he said.

“Westworld” Season 2 will return to HBO in 2018.
