What Are Camilla Parker Bowles' Jobs As Future Queen Consort?
Camilla Parker Bowles won’t have an easy time as the future queen consort. When Prince Charles becomes king, his wife will assume a more important role in the monarchy.
On the online forum site Quora, royal fans shared their thoughts about Camilla’s future tasks as the queen consort. Justin Mihalik, an American citizen and an admirer of British democracy, said that one of Camilla’s top jobs is to speak up for what Prince Charles wants and needs, especially in moments where it might be awkward for him to do so.
“As we saw during Prince Charles’ public feuding with his ex-wife, Princess Diana, he is not always good at advocating for himself. He has a record of putting his foot in his mouth even when his intentions are not bad,” he said.
Camilla would also convey her husband’s desire to continue the work of Queen Elizabeth II as the patron and figurehead of the Commonwealth. Prince Charles won’t be able to share his aspirations vocally without coming off as arrogant and entitled, and this is where his wife would come in.
Duchess Camilla may also be tasked to communicate with the palace and the UK officials, Commonwealth leaders, and various groups that Prince Charles advocates. Camilla would also be doubly valuable to Prince Charles because he doesn’t seem very skilled at making cases for himself.
Malka Gittel Bas Reuven, a Dame of the Royal Order of St. Michael of the Wing, said that Camilla’s role as queen consort will be similar to what she is doing at the moment.
“Be a patron of charities, make public appearances, shake hands, kiss babies, do ribbon cuttings and all the other royal work that doesn’t involve heading the Commonwealth (which Charles already does at the behest of his mother), reading the contents of the red box, meeting regularly with the PM, or opening Parliament,” she said.
The royal fan also said that the royal spouse will do royal spousal stuff.
