What Disney Park Goers Can Expect At Walt Disney World, Disneyland In 2022
Disney theme parks have brought years of fun and joy to many families as countless parents. Disneyland in Orange County, California, opened in 1955, while Disney World opened in 1971. The two parks have seen a slowdown in visitors due to the pandemic.
Here are some of the biggest changes to Disney Land and Disney World in 2022.
- There will be updates to the Disney Land Hotel that will feature a new pool and recreation area with more room options.
- Mickey’s Toontown will be revamped beginning in March and will reopen as Toontown 2.0 in 2023.
- Two night-time shows “World of Color” and “Fantasmic” will return in the new year as well as the "Main Street Electric Parade," "Celebrate Gospel," and “Tale of the Lion King.”
- The latest wearable version of MagicBand+ will arrive at both Disney theme parks which will make any stay at a Disney theme park more convenient with hands-free room and park entry, simple PhotoPass scanning, ride interaction, and easy payment options on property.
- Downtown Disney will have more shopping, dining, and entertainment options, more information will be released next year.
- The End of Magical Express transported guests to and from Orlando International Airport for a fee.
- The Star Wars Hotel will open on March 1.
- Disney Springtime Suprise Weekend will replace the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend and take place from March 31 to April 3.
- The Disney Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will add 200 resort studios, a DVC Club room type unique to the Grand Floridian.
- “Hey, Disney” Alexa services will let guests check-in, check weather services, set timers and alarms, and more.
- "Guardians of The Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind" will offer a wild new ride that will be able to turn a full 360 degrees on the tracks.
- A brand new ice cream shop called “Salt & Straw” will open featuring unique flavors that will change seasonally like Honey Lavender and Chocolate Gooey Brownie.
- The debut of Finding Nemo: The Musical.
- The return of the Disney Dining Plan.
- The return of Fantasmic.
- The Festival of Fantasy will return.
- The debut of Moana Journey of Water.
- The debut of Play! Pavilion that will feature games and other hands-on activities.
- Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort will re-open.
