What Happened To ‘Bachelorette’ Rachel Lindsay On Nick’s ‘Bachelor’ Season? Why She Was Eliminated
Rachel Lindsay is going to get her happily ever after on this season of “The Bachelorette” but last viewers saw her, she was getting a tearful boot from “Bachelor” star Nick Viall. Ahead of Rachel’s journey to find love on Season 13 of the ABC series, which kicks off Monday night, take a look at her time spent on Nick’s season and her eventual elimination.
After the 2017 premiere of the “Bachelor,” Rachel earned a group date with her flame in episode 2. There, she visited the Museum of Broken Relationships with Nick and several other girls. In episode 3, Rachel found herself on another group outing, this time competing with the women in at track and field event. While Astrid won the competition it was Rachel who secured the group date rose and additional time with Nick.

After telling Nick she felt she was being ignored in episode 4, Rachel earned herself her first one-on-one date with the Wisconsin native in the following episode. The couple headed to New Orleans for their outing with they danced in the streets and dined at the famed Café du Monde. During one heart-to-heart conversation Nick assured Rachel that she was important to him and she was clearly thrilled by the news.
In episode 6, Rachel attended an outing with Nick and five of the other contestants for a day at the beach. The fun, however, didn’t last for long. Things took a dark turn when Nick let a bombshell drop on his remaining women. While visiting the St. Thomas Virgin Islands he told the cast he was fearful he wouldn’t find the love of his life on the show, and once again, would leave single and heartbroken. His admission came after contestant Danielle L. revealed she was falling for Nick and he didn’t reciprocate the same feelings, resulting in him eliminating her.
In an effort to start things over again on fresh footing, Nick traveled his remaining women to the Bahamas in episode 7. In the installment, Rachel was one of three women to secure a one-on-one date with Nick. Despite having chemistry with Nick during their boating outing, Rachel later found herself on a dreaded two-on-one date as well. However, she won out over her competitor, Danielle M., and remained on the show.
Despite not having finished her stint on “The Bachelor,” ABC changed things up after the episode aired by announcing that Rachel would be the next “Bachelorette” star. Nick appeared to agree with the network’s decision to cast his ex, who at that point, fans hadn’t seen leave the show.
After surviving hometown dates and Nick hitting it off with her family, Rachel was invited to join him and the other two finalists – Raven Gates and Vanessa Grimaldi – in Finland. While in Northern Europe, Rachel admitted she was having a tough time with the “Bachelor” process. What followed was her elimination.

Nick tearfully told Rachel, “Selfishly, I hope someday this won’t be a goodbye for ever because it is so hard to say goodbye to you.” After getting eliminated Rachel said she didn’t show Nick how great they could have been together and she wanted unconditional love with someone. Nick went on to propose to Vanessa, and they are still engaged to be married.
“I really had a connection with Nick, and I was shocked,” Rachel said of her elimination on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” after getting the boot. “I was sort of skeptical that it would happen that fast but it did. And it didn’t work out, I guess he was looking for something else. His loss.”
The rest, of course, is history. Rachel will star as “The Bachelorette” on Season 13 of the series, which kicks off on ABC at 9 p.m. EDT on Monday night.
