Jurgen Klopp has reacted to Darwin Nunez's red card after Liverpool FC's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Klopp on Monday said he would speak to Nunez after the Reds' new signing was sent away on his first league start and maiden Anfield appearance. Nunez moved from Benfica to Liverpool ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

The 23-year-old became the first Liverpool player under Klopp to be sent off for violent conduct, according to Goal.com. The former Benfica striker will now serve a three-game ban. He is set to miss the match against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Aug. 22. He also can't feature in Liverpool's Anfield fixtures against Bournemouth and Newcastle United.

"A little provocation here and there – and definitely the wrong reaction. A clear red card, I cannot deny that. Yeah, he will learn from that. Unfortunately, he has now a few games' time to do so. That's not cool for us in our specific situation, even less, but that's how it is," Klopp said after the 1-1 draw at Anfield, Liverpool's website reported.

The German boss went on to add that Nunez made a mistake and he would speak to the young forward soon. Klopp also mentioned that he did not see the incident when it happened on the pitch.

"Yeah, of course I will speak with him. I saw Andersen on the floor and Darwin walking away, that was my picture. I asked then our guys already and I saw only, 'OK, red card'. And then I saw it – yes, it is a red card. Wrong reaction in the situation. Andersen wanted that, I would say, and he got it. But he made a mistake, Darwin, so of course, we will talk about it. But not yet," added Klopp.

Meanwhile, veteran midfielder James Milner said the Reds players have to back Nunez.

"He is going to be disappointed in that. We have to get around him and rally. He will learn from it. The team reacted well and the ground did and got behind us," Milner told Sky Sports.

Two games into the 2022-23 Premier League, Liverpool are unbeaten but are yet to secure three points in a game. The Reds are now placed 12th in the league table with two points.
