What Royal Fans Think Of Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Suing British Publications
Royal fans discuss Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s move to sue British publications.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced before their South Africa tour ended that they were suing Mail on Sunday for publishing Markle’s letter to her father. Days after that, Prince Harry announced that he was also suing The Sun and The Daily Mirror for an alleged phone hacking.
The netizens shared their thoughts about the royal couple’s legal move on Quora. Royal fans have different opinions about the issue, with some supporting Prince Harry and Markle’s decision while others felt that they were treading dangerous waters for doing so.
“I think the pair of them are treading dangerous waters with this. Would they have been complaining if all the publicity associated with the letter had been positive? Meghan was happy for the contents of letters to be revealed by her friends because they all said ‘nice’ things about her,” Denise Tanner wrote.
According to Tanner, the royal couple could still be hounded by the press and the commenter doubted if they would be suing the press if the photos and reports published were full of praises for the royal.
“She is not right! She needs to understand that she’s not being bullied but simply being called out for all her inappropriate actions,” another netizen wrote.
One royal follower supported the royal couple’s move by stressing that it’s about time for the royal family to start fighting back. The user pointed out how the tabloids and gossip magazines have been getting away with exaggerating trivial gossip for years about the royal family.
Meanwhile, another royal fan said that this move could be another publicity stunt to rehabilitate the couple’s reputation. The online user pointed out how Markle’s friends were the first to publish excerpts of a letter she wrote to her father. When Markle’s father responded by giving out Markle’s entire letter to defend himself, the royal couple reacted by suing the tabloid that published it.
“If that is what the case is all about, Meghan doesn’t have much of a legal leg to stand on. It’s another publicity stunt in rehabilitating her PR image,” the royal fan wrote.
