What Time Are The Yankees Playing? New York-Houston ALCS Schedule
The New York Yankees hope their current playoff series with the Houston Astros is far from over as they try to reach the World Series for the first time since 2009. The Bronx Bombers will host the Astros for at least two games, and possibly three, at Yankee Stadium, facing a 2-0 series hole Monday night.
What time are the Yankees playing next? Game 3 and Game 4 of the ALCS are set to start within fewer than 24 hours of each other.
Game 3 starts in New York at 8:08 p.m. EDT Monday night, and Game 4 will get underway at 5:08 p.m. EDT Tuesday. If the Yankees can get at least one victory and extend the series, Game 5 will start Wednesday afternoon at 5:08 p.m. EDT.
New York and Houston will meet in the only MLB playoff game on Monday’s schedule, but that will change over the next two days. With the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers set to face off in Game 3 and Game 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday night at Wrigley Field, the Yankees and Astros have been bumped to the afternoon.
Both teams were in a similar situation during the ALDS.
The Yankees lost the first two games of their best-of-five set against the Cleveland Indians, only to return home and win two straight games in the Bronx. New York advanced to the ALCS by winning a winner-take-all Game 5 in Cleveland.
The Astros were dominant in the first two games of the ALDS, beating the Boston Red Sox 8-2 in both Game 1 and Game 2. After dropping Game 3 at Fenway Park, Houston came from behind to close out the series in Game 4 in Boston.
Houston beat New York by the exact same score in both Game 1 and Game 2. The Yankees didn’t score their first run of the series until they came down to their final out in Game 1, and all Greg Bird’s solo home run did was cause them to drop the opener 2-1. The Astros avoided going into extra innings when Carlos Correa’s RBI double drove in Jose Altuve to give Houston a 2-1 victory in Game 2.
CC Sabathia gets the start for the Yankees in Game 3. Sonny Gray will start for New York in Game 4. Sabathia made two starts in the ALDS, while Gray hasn’t pitched since he allowed three runs in 3.1 innings in Game 1 against the Indians.
New York was much better at home during the regular season, going 51-30 at Yankee Stadium and 40-41 on the road. Houston was actually better on the road, winning 53 games at opposing stadiums and going 48-33 at home.
If the best-of-seven series shifts back to Houston, Game 6 will be played Friday night at 8:08 p.m. EDT. A deciding Game 7 would be played in Houston Saturday night at 8:08 p.m. EDT.
The rest of the series will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1.
