McDonald’s in China made headlines Monday by introducing an unusual new menu item.

In what has been called a "Lunchmeat Burger," China has added a hamburger that includes Spam topped with crushed Oreo cookies.

To stay ahead of China's competitive restaurant market, big companies weigh adding “off-beat” products to their menu for attraction purposes and to appeal to curious eaters, according to the Associated Press.

The new burger consists of two slices of Spam, Mondelez International Oreo cookies and mayonnaise.

The Lunchmeat Burger is part of a “member’s only” promotion. There will be 400,000 available.

Twitter users shared their thoughts and opinions on this unique burger, most saying they aren’t a fan.

Others on various websites had positive things to say about the burger.

“I thought it was delicious,” said a comment signed Feifei Mao Enthusiast on the Sina Weibo microblog service. “Is that because I love McDonald’s too deeply? Or is something wrong with my taste?"

It's unclear whether the Lunchmeat Burger will be a permanent menu item.
