What’s New On Netflix In September 2017? Top 8 Movies, TV Shows
September brings another wave of new titles to Netflix. The streaming platform is adding dozens of new movies and TV shows this month. Whether you’re looking for cult classics, indie romances or something the whole family can enjoy, you can find something new on Netflix.
“Pulp Fiction” (Sept. 1) Quentin Tarantino’s classic is coming to Netflix this September. The 1994 movie follows hit men Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) as well as their bosses. Ving Rhames, Uma Thurman and Bruce Willis also star. The 1994 film is a classic so add it to your list if you haven’t seen it yet.
“Newsies: The Broadway Musical” (Sept. 5) Your Netflix subscription is much cheaper than a Broadway ticket. Jeremy Jordan, Kara Lindsay, Andrew Keenan-Bolger and much of the original Broadway cast reprise their roles for this performance. When newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack unites the newsies all over the city to fight for what’s fair.
“Like Crazy” (Sept. 5) The late Anton Yelchin stars in this romantic drama alongside Felicity Jones and Jennifer Lawrence. Jones and Yelchin’s characters fall in love, but she’s a British exchange student. After she overstays her student visa, she is denied reentry to the U.S. and the couple must fight to stay together.
“Call the Midwife” Season 6 (Sept. 18) Your favorite British nurses are back! The PBS drama takes viewers to 1962, which brings new innovations like birth control pills. There will also be some disruption in the hierarchy of Nonnatus House. Sister Ursula (Harriet Walter) is now the head while Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter) gets demoted.
“Beauty and the Beast” (Sept. 19) Emma Watson stars as Belle in this Disney adaptation. In the 2016 movie, she goes to save her father from the scary Beast (Dan Stevens). She trades places with her father as a prisoner in an abandoned palace filled with talking objects and soon discovers that the Beast isn’t as cold-hearted as she thought. This live action movie is pretty true to the animated version, but composer Alan Menken added a few new songs, including the Beast’s solo “Evermore.”
“Carol” (Sept. 20) The Academy Award-nominated movie is coming to Netflix in September. In 1950s Manhattan, cashier Therese (Rooney Mara) helps a woman in a department store buy some gifts. Their relationship quickly goes beyond professional and the two develop a romance.
“The Magic School Bus Rides Again ” Season 1 (Sept. 29) Ms. Frizzle and her wacky school trips are back! The educational series, featuring the voice of “Saturday Night Live” comedian Kate McKinnon, is the perfect educational program for the whole family.
“Our Souls at Night” (Sept. 29) Jane Fonda and Robert Redford reunited for their fourth film in five decades. The veteran actors play neighbors with deceased spouses, but they never talked to each other much before. With their children living far away and big empty houses all to themselves, Fonda’s character decides to make a move.
