What’s Next For Jennifer Lawrence? A Look Inside Her Next 5 Movies
Jennifer Lawrence has spent some time out of the spotlight over the last few years, but if her slate of upcoming films is any indication, her return to Hollywood is just one of the many things the actress can celebrate.
As Lawrence rings in her 31st birthday on Sunday, take a closer look at five of the films she currently has in the works.
“Don’t Look Up”
The Netflix apocalyptic comedy, which is expected to be released in 2021, follows two low-level astronomers who attempt to warn the world about an asteroid that will destroy the Earth by going on a giant media tour. Lawrence’s co-stars will include a slew of A-list stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, and Kid Cudi, notes Deadline.
“Don’t Look Up” was directed, written, and co-produced by Adam McKay.
“Red, White And Water”
The Lila Neugebauer-directed flick tells the story of an American soldier who suffers a traumatic brain injury while stationed in Afghanistan and the challenges of adjusting to life back home in the states.
The film was initially set to be produced by Scott Rudin and Eli Bush, but Rudin stepped away from his movie and TV projects in April following allegations he abused his power on sets. “Red, White and Water” will now be produced by Bush, Lawrence, and Justine Polsky.
Lawrence resumed production on the project in June, Page Six reports. A release date for the movie has not been announced.
“Mob Girl”
According to a 2019 write-up from The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence will star in the adaptation of the non-fiction book of the same name, written by Teresa Carpenter. The actress will play Arlyne Brickman, a “mob girlfriend” in New York City that becomes a police informant.
There is no release date for the film, but it will be produced by Lawrence’s production company, Excellent Cadaver, which she launched in 2018.
“Bad Blood”
In 2016, it was revealed that Lawrence was teaming up with McKay to star in the movie based on Elizabeth Holmes and the Theranos scandal. Holmes was thrust into the spotlight after claiming her blood-testing company Theranos found a revolutionary blood-testing tool. However, her empire quickly crumbled when the company was investigated for fraud.
“Bad Blood” does not have a release date though McKay did confirm the film was still in development in an April interview, reports ComingSoon.
TBD Sue Mengers Film
Streaming services like Netflix and Apple are currently in a bidding war over the rights to the movie, reports Variety, which tells the story of the legendary Hollywood agent who was known for scoring the best deals for her A-list clients.
The film will be directed by Paolo Sorrentino and is already garnering buzz for being Oscar bait. Bids for the rights to the flick are reportedly between $80 million to $95 million.
