WhatsApp Update: Dark Mode And Self-Destructing Messages Features Are Still In The Works

WhatsApp is coming strong this week. The social messaging platform has launched a significant update for iPhone users that brings a number of new features onboard. The latest iPhone update came just hours after WhatsApp users received warnings about a new security bug that can be used by the hackers to steal WhatsApp accounts and important files.

The latest 2.19.100 update for iOS users will include new features like Apple’s fun personalized MeMoji stickers, which now can be sent to friends and families directly from the emoji keyboard on the iOS13 platform. The latest WhatsApp update on iPhone will also allow users to edit and send back media files in the chat app by just tapping the doodle icon when viewing an image or video.

WhatsApp users will now be able to play voice messages directly from notifications by just long pressing on the notification that indicates a new voice message or by tapping the play option. The popular messaging app will also allow users to change font styles in the camera by just tapping the T icon on the screen.

Unfortunately, the latest update for the iPhone users is missing something big -- not even a sign or hint of the much-awaited feature. The Dark Mode is big feature that many WhatsApp users are waiting for since it offers a simple solution to potential eye strain by inverting all bright white colors found across the app to dark grays and pitch black. The Dark Mode feature works by adjusting the colors of the screen for the darker appearance, protecting the user's eyes from the bright colors of the application or software.

The company has been late in implementing the Dark Mode feature in the WhatsApp for the iPhone app. The feature was already available on numerous applications like Signal, YouTube, Telegram and Facebook-owned, Instagram.

Another upcoming WhatsApp feature is the Self-Destructing Messages, which will allow messages to disappear automatically from the chat app after a set time. This feature will leave no trace of messages deleted in the chat app.
