‘When Calls the Heart’ Is Leaving Netflix In January Before Season 8 Premiere

“When Calls the Heart” fans have until Jan. 24 to watch Seasons 1 through 5 on Netflix before it leaves the streaming service.

Each month Netflix announces the departures of shows and movies to make room for new titles on the streaming service, and this month was no different.

On Wednesday, Netflix announced the series inspired by Janette Oke’s books would be one of the many shows to exit the streaming service.

It is unclear where the five seasons will become available to watch, but there is a chance they could end up on the network’s streaming service.

Hallmark Movies Now features “exclusive originals, heartfelt Hollywood favorites, and movies and series from Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and Hallmark Hall of Fame that can’t be found anywhere else,” according to a press release.

Although the first five seasons of the show will be leaving Netflix toward the end of January, Season 7 of the series is expected to become available on the Hallmark Movies Now in 2021.

On New Year’s Day, the first three episodes of “When Calls the Heart” Season 7 will launch on the streaming service. The remaining seven episodes will then be released weekly. Season 8 of the series is expected to premiere on Hallmark Channel in late February.

News of the series' exit from Netflix comes less than two weeks ahead of the highly anticipated “When Calls the Heart” Season 8 sneak peek.

Over the last few years, Hallmark would air a “When Calls the Heart” holiday special. However, amid the coronavirus pandemic, viewers will have to settle for a repeat of last year’s episode, “When Calls the Heart: Home for Christmas.”

Although fans aren’t getting a movie-length special episode, they will get a glimpse of what’s to come in the new season.

Earlier this month, Erin Krakow announced that she, along with castmates Kevin McGarry, Chris McNally, and Pascale Hutton, will host a special encore presentation of the episode, which will include a “special Christmas gift” of a never-before-seen clip from Season 8.

The special presentation of “When Calls the Heart: Home for Christmas” will air Friday, Dec. 25 at 8 p.m. EST on Hallmark Channel.
