911 210 recap
Peter Krause and Angela Bassett in the “Merry Ex-Mas” fall finale episode of “9-1-1.” Jack Zeman / Fox

It’s been three months since Fox aired a new episode of “9-1-1,” but the wait is almost over.

The drama, which revolves around the personal and professional lives of first responders in Los Angeles, has an official air date for Season 2, episode 11. The series will return on March 18. Before the show comes back on TV, though, let’s take a minute to remember how things left off.

It was Christmastime, and there were some great moments for the characters, as well as some difficult ones. It took a little convincing, but Bobby (Peter Krause) and Athena (Angela Bassett) got engaged, and it appeared they couldn’t be happier about moving forward with their lives and their relationship.

“Well, I think for people who have been through what they’ve been through, particularly [Bobby], and even Athena on some level — I think Bobby’s feeling is, he’s sure about her,” showrunner Tim Minear told TheWrap about the engagement.

As for Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), she’s having a harder time moving on because her past made a surprise visit in the form of her abusive ex-husband, Doug (Brian Hallisay). He pretended to be someone else in order to befriend Chimney (Kenneth Choi), but viewers learned at the end of the “9-1-1” episode who he truly is.

Will it be an easy step forward for Bobby and Athena? What’s Doug planning for Maddie? Where will the rest of the characters be when the show picks back up? Find out when “9-1-1” returns on Fox on March 18 at 9 p.m. EST.
