If you were late to the “Harlots” bandwagon in Season 1, you may have been able to binge the entire series on Hulu at once. So it might be a surprise to realize that the Season 2 premiere only included two episodes, and audiences will have to wait for episode 3.

Unlike Netflix, Hulu doesn’t release all episodes of a new season on the premiere day. Wednesday brought the debut of episodes 1 and 2, and audiences will have to wait a week for another. “Harlots” Season 2, episode 3 will release at 12 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, July 18. A new episode will release every Wednesday through Aug. 22.

It sounds like next week’s episode 3 will be a good one. “Margaret (Samantha Morton) must focus on business but a visit to the Pleasure Gardens leads to an unexpected confrontation,” the synopsis teases. “Charlotte (Jessica Brown Findlay) tries to secure a powerful ally and gain Margaret’s approval, while Lucy (Eloise Smyth) falls under Fallon’s (Ben Lambert) spell.”

While the Hulu original series, which is about two rival brothels, is set in 18th century London, the themes are very relevant to the women’s rights movement happening now. The stars say the show will definitely address the ideas of the #MeToo movement in Season 2.

“Whether it’s 1763 or 2018, the way that women are treated globally is quite shocking,” Morton told Cosmopolitan. “So we already cover it, and we’re not covering it because it’s a dialogue right now — if you’re going to make a show about prostitution it’s going to cover those aspects of rape and murder. I hope that when people see the show it might make them think differently about women and what we have to go through, whether it’s the whores of Babylon or today or Georgian England. It’s a really tough world to be a woman.”

“Harlots” is vastly different from “The Handmaid’s Tale,” but it handles some of the same ideas about equality and power. Conveniently, “Harlots” Season 2 premiered as the “Handmaid’s Tale” Season 2 finale was released, meaning Offred’s fans need a new show to watch on Wednesdays. It sounds like “Harlots” is an entertaining alternative.
