When Does ‘Married At First Sight’ Come Back? Season 9 Premiere Date
“Married at First Sight” wrapped up Season 8 just a couple weeks ago, but fans can already start counting down to Season 9. Lifetime will bring back the reality show in June.
“Married at First Sight” Season 9 will premiere on June 12 at 9 p.m. EDT. “MAFS” fans should note that the show is moving to Wednesdays.
Those who sign up for the show speak to three experts to find their perfect matches. The “Married at First Sight” professionals — a pastor, a therapist and a sociologist — pair the participants, but they don’t meet until they’re at the altar. The show follows their blind, arranged marriages for several weeks at the end of which couples decide if they want to get divorced or stay married.
Last season, the show upped the number of couples from three to four, and International Business Times can confirm that there will once again be four weddings. Filming took place over the course of eight weeks rather than seven.
While Lifetime won’t confirm where “MAFS” Season 9 was filmed, there were casting calls held in Charlotte, North Carolina last fall, so it seems likely that it’s a southern season.
Since Season 8 was the first season with four couples, it was also the first season with a 50% success rate. AJ Vollmoeller and Stephanie Sersen stayed together. Keith Dewar and Kristine Killingsworth also decided to remain married, bringing the total of successful “MAFS” couples to six. Unfortunately, two couples also decided to divorce. Jasmine McGriff and Will Guess split, and Kate Sisk and Luke Cuccurullo also broke up.
The reunion, which aired earlier this month, revealed some serious behind-the-scenes drama when Kate admitted that she thought Luke was gay and that he was only on the show for attention. The groom maintained that he was straight.
So far, “Married at First Sight” fans have seen 25 weddings on the show. Season 9 will bring the total to 29.
