When Does ‘SNL’ Come Back? Season 45, Episode 11 Air Date Revealed
“Saturday Night Live” wasn’t on last night, but fans won’t have to wait much longer. The NBC sketch comedy series will come back with new episodes this month.
“SNL” returns on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC. The episode will include two familiar guests.
Returning as host is Adam Driver. The actor can currently be seen in the box office beast “Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker” as well as Netflix’s “Marriage Story,” which is expected to earn some Oscar nominations this week.
Driver is no stranger to Studio 8H. The first episode of 2020 will be Driver’s third time hosting “SNL.” He made his debut in January 2016 and followed it with another episode in September 2018. Both were solid episodes, so fans are likely excited for his return.
Also coming back to the “SNL” stage is Halsey. The “Graveyard” singer will be the musical guest in Season 45, episode 11, but don’t be surprised if she appears in a sketch or two. Last year, the performer pulled double-duty as host and musical guest. Like Driver, this will be her third time on the show. She first appeared as a musical guest in January 2018.
Halsey will be there to promote her new album, “Manic,” which debuts Jan. 17.
“SNL” fans can start the 2020 episodes knowing that Kenan Thompson is sticking around. His new NBC comedy series, “The Kenan Show,” was picked up last year, but Variety reports that it is being further developed before production begins. In any case, the show is thought to be shooting around Thompson’s “SNL” schedule.
NBC execs are likely hoping that the ratings from the end of 2019 carry into 2020. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the last episode before Christmas, which was hosted by “SNL” veteran Eddie Murphy, drew in 9.921 million viewers. It was the most-watched episode since Melissa McCarthy hosted in May 2017.
