For the first time in nearly 30 years, the NFL’s championship game will be played in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, is scheduled to host Super Bowl LVI on Feb. 6, 2022.

The home of both the Los Angeles Rams and L.A. Chargers, SoFi Stadium opened in September 2020. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the two teams played their home games without any fans in attendance.

During the 2021 NFL season, the Rams and Chargers will now try to become the second team to play the Super Bowl in its home venue. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made history by winning Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium on Feb. 7.

L.A. was the site of the first-ever Super Bowl. The Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10 at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Jan. 15, 1967.

The Los Angeles area has hosted several Super Bowls to date. The last one came in 1993 when the Dallas Cowboys beat the Buffalo Bills at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

Fewer than 25,000 fans were allowed to watch the 2021 Super Bowl in person. The NFL is hoping it can have full attendance for the 2022 game. SoFi Stadium has a capacity of just north of 70,000.

Super Bowl LVI ticket packages are already being offered through the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s official website. The different packages include travel arrangements, a ticket to the game, meet-and-greets with Pro Football Hall of Famers, and more.

A portion of Super Bowl tickets can usually be purchased through NFL teams. The two teams competing in the game are given the most tickets to sell to season ticket holders.

In the past, the NFL has held a lottery through which it has given away 500 free tickets to the Super Bowl.
