When Is ‘When Calls The Heart’ Coming Back? Season 6 Return Date Revealed
It’s been over a month since a new episode of “When Calls the Heart” aired on Hallmark Channel, but Hearties won’t have to wait much longer for the show to return.
With a special message from star Erin Krakow (Elizabeth) during a short, behind-the-scenes video that aired on Wednesday, the network revealed that the period drama, which has not been canceled, will be coming back next month on May 5. Plus, there will be a second new episode airing the following night, on May 6, before returning to its regular Sunday time period.
“I’m so happy to tell you that Season 6 is returning Sunday, May 5 at 8 [p.m. EDT], but that’s not all,” Krakow said. “We want to give you something special to mark our return. So, we’ll also be airing a second brand-new episode on Monday, May 6… We can’t wait to welcome you back to Hope Valley and share more all-new stories with you.”
After sharing a sneak peek clip, she continued, “We’re so excited for you to meet our new mountie, [and] I know you won’t want to miss a single moment.” Krakow also revealed she’ll be making another special announcement during Hallmark’s premiere of “Bottled With Love” this Saturday.
After telling fans last week that he already knew the show’s return date but had to wait to reveal it, “When Calls the Heart” co-creator Brian Bird once again teased fans about the show a couple of days ago. “Something is happening on your cable and satellite systems Wednesday… You really, really do not want to miss it,” he wrote on social media. “Really. You’re welcome.”
Well, with the special “WCTH” video today announcing when Season 6 will continue airing, Bird was definitely right about fans not wanting to miss it. Hearties have been anxiously waiting to hear what would happen with the show and when they would be able to get it back on their TVs, and they finally got their answers.
Only three episodes of Season 6 aired before Hallmark sent the show on hiatus and dropped Lori Loughlin (Abigail) due to her connection with the college admissions scandal. During the show’s break, the network’s been working to retool the series without the actress.
It remains to be seen whether or not Hallmark is recasting Loughlin’s character with a new star or if Abigail will be written out of the story completely. If the latter is the case, who will take over as Hope Valley’s new mayor, and who will get Abigail’s shares of the cafe?
Fans will just have to wait until May 5 at 8 p.m. EDT when Season 6, episode 4 of “When Calls the Heart” airs to find out!
