When Is ‘When Hope Calls’ Airing On Hallmark Channel On TV?
Hallmark Movies Now’s “When Calls the Heart” spinoff show, “When Hope Calls,” is airing on Hallmark Channel for one night only on Saturday.
The show follows reunited sisters Lillian (Morgan Kohan) and Grace (Jocelyn Hudon), both of whom Hearties first met in the 2018 “When Calls the Heart” Christmas special, as they set up an orphanage in the 1916 Western town of Brookfield, finding love and dealing with drama along the way.
Although “WCTH” is a Hallmark Channel series, the spinoff is the first original show for the company’s subscription streaming service, Hallmark Movies Now. It premiered on Aug. 30 with two episodes, with new episodes debuting every Friday since. There are currently five available on the platform, with five more still on the way.
While some Hearties might have already started watching “When Hope Calls” online, others might not have known about it or might not have wanted to start paying for Hallmark Movies Now yet. Well, whether you’re already a Heartie but haven’t started the spinoff show yet, or if you’re completely new to the world of “WCTH,” now’s the perfect time to join the “When Hope Calls” family.
For the first time ever, Hallmark Channel has TV listings for the show and will air the first two episodes on Saturday. It all begins when episode 1 airs at 9 p.m. EDT, with episode 2 premiering right after at 10 p.m. EDT.
Check out the full, official synopsis for each episode below.
Episode 1, “New Hope”:
“Reunited sisters Lillian and Grace encounter resistance against their just-opened New Hope Orphanage from the townspeople of Brookfield, including Tess Stewart (Wendy Crewson), who has unresolved conflict with Lillian’s family. Having recently returned to town, Constable Gabriel Clark (Ryan-James Hatanaka) reacquaints himself with his neighbors but suspects some may be hiding secrets. Tess’s son Chuck (Greg Hovanessian) helps Grace when the cow she purchased from his mother fails to produce milk and admires Grace’s tenacity. When a disaster strikes in Brookfield, Lillian and Grace band with their neighbors despite considerable danger.”
Episode 2, titled “From the Ashes”:
“Grace and Lillian welcome Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) and Lee Coulter (Kavan Smith) from Hope Valley, who are in town to help rebuild Brookfield after the fire. Gabriel investigates the cause of the fire and pursues an eyewitness report that points to two orphans. Tess’s tumultuous history with Lillian’s family complicates the mutual attraction shared by Chuck and Grace. Having lost his store in the fire, Joe (Jefferson Brown) considers moving. Meanwhile, nurse Maggie Parsons (Hanneke Talbot) arrives in town, and Tess continues to feud with one of her neighbors over missing livestock.”
Hallmark Channel currently has no plans to air the rest of “When Hope Calls” Season 1, but new fans can still watch them as they come out on Hallmark Movies Now. For those who don’t want to fully commit to paying for the service yet, there’s a free seven-day trial available for HMN.
Hearties finding themselves falling in love with the new period drama and craving more “When Hope Calls” content, we have some good news: there are also companion novels on the way! From “When Calls the Heart” author Janette Oke and her daughter, Laurel Oke Logan, the first book is due out in May 2020.
