Where Are ‘My 600-Lb Life’ Brothers Steven And Justin Assanti Now? Weight Loss Surgery Patient Responds On Facebook

Steven and Justin Assanti weighed more than 1,400 pounds combined, but sought the help of bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzardan from TLC's “My 600-Lb Life” to get their weight under control. It’s not the first time Steven, who goes by his middle name, John, asked for help. The show started off with Steven being kicked out of a hospital in his home state of Rhode Island for ignoring his diet plan and secretly ordering pizza.

At 800 pounds and growing, his last hope to get his weight under control was to see Dr. Now, the renowned bariatric surgeon who regularly takes on patients that most doctors would turn away.

Steven promoted his appearance on the series in December. “Me ‘Steven Assanti’ standing next to my doctor, Dr. Younan Nowzardan, from the TLC show ‘My 600-Lb Life.’ Brand new season of ‘My 600 Lb Life’ starts Jan. 4th 2017 on TLC. Check your local listings.” The photo he posted was taken Halloween 2015.

In his most recent post, Steven asked his Facebook followers to tune in to his episode March 29.

The last time viewers saw John, he did not follow Dr. Now’s plan and was not successfully losing weight after he tries to game the hospital for pain pills.

But the Assanti brothers’ story isn’t over. TLC gave them a second episode so viewers could see more of their journey. Even though Steven wasn’t progressing, his brother, Justin, who weighed 600 pounds, was having more success.

Justin enjoyed being away from his brother. He felt more support from their father, who helped Justin open a hobby store, according to BroadwayWorld.com. Justin made new friends and found a mother figure. His biological mother abandoned him and his brother when they were little to party. While Justin was happier, his weight loss stalled when he got a new job.
