Where Are OJ Simpson’s Kids Now? Children With First Ex-Wife, Nicole Brown
Former NFL star O.J. Simpson was released from prison in Nevada Sunday morning following a nine-year prison stint for a Las Vegas robbery. Simpson first gained infamy for going on trial for the 1994 killings of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. He was ultimately acquitted of murder, but was found liable for the killings in a 1997 civil trial. Simpson had five children.
Simpson, now 70, married Marguerite L. Whitley, his high school girlfriend when he was 19 in 1967. Together the couple had three children: Arnelle Simpson, Jason Simpson and Aaren Simpson. Aaren Simpson died just before she was two after drowning in the family pool. O.J. and his first wife divorced later that year.
Arnelle Simpson, 48, and Jason Simpson, 47, have kept relatively low profiles their entire lives.
“We just want him to come home, we really do,” said Arnelle Simpson to the parole board before the granted him his release earlier this summer.
Arnelle Simpson lives in Florida currently and Jason Simpson works as a chef in Atlanta, according to Newsweek earlier this year.
O.J. Simpson also had two children with his deceased ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, Sydney Simpson and Justin Simpson.
Sydney Simpson, 31, is a Boston University graduate and owns a business, she lives in St. Petersburg, Florida. Justin Simpson, 28, is a realtor who also lives in St. Petersburg.
O.J. Simpson’s release was a day early surprise in order to avoid a huge media circus.
“We needed to do this to ensure public safety and to avoid any possible incident,” said a spokesperson for the jail to the Associated Press Sunday.
O.J. Simpson was ordered to pay $33.5 million in damages to the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman from the 1997 civil suit. The former Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers Running Back has yet to pay most of that money back, and going forward much of his income will have to go towards that debt. O.J. Simpson receives a pension from the NFL for his five-time Pro Bowl winning career, but that money is protected from being garnished.
O.J. Simpson’s lawyer Malcolm LaVergne said that he will move back to Florida, his home before the Las Vegas robbery. Florida’s Attorney General, Pam Bondi said that O.J. Simpson is not welcome in Florida, but if he meets the parole transfer criteria, the state must allow him to move home.
“I’ve handled parole hearings my entire time as a prosecutor and … I have never seen such lack of remorse in my entire career,” Bondi said to “Fox and Friends” Sunday. “It’s a shame, frankly, because his children have led really good lives — they’ve chosen to live under anonymity, and now he’s gonna bring them to the forefront of this.”
O.J. Simpson is subject to five years of supervised release, but it could be shortened for good behavior.
