Chick-fil-A is serving up a new chicken sandwich with pimento cheese, but there’s a catch – not everyone can get their hands on it just yet.

Chick-fil-A announced that it is testing the new limited-edition Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich in select locations. The sandwich will only be available for order at participating restaurants in the Asheville, North Carolina, area and upstate South Carolina.

The Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich features Chick-fil-A’s original chicken sandwich, but it has honey drizzled on it with a topping of pimento cheese – all served on a warm, toasted bun with mild pickled jalapenos.

The sandwich, which has been in development for over a year, became available on Monday.

“This is the first variation of the Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich we’ve tested as a seasonal item,” Chef Stuart Tracy, one of Chick-fil-A’s senior culinary developers, said in a statement. “We have a feeling guests will love it.”

The inspiration for the pimento chicken sandwich comes from a take on melt-style sandwiches that are savory, salty, sweet, and melty. Chick-fil-A said they wanted to appeal to a “wide variety of flavor palates.” It also suggests ordering the sandwich without jalapenos or cheese or honey if preferred.

“The jalapeños add what we call ‘entry-level’ spice,” said Tracy. “They give the sandwich just a little kick, bringing a Southwest influence that pairs well with honey and pimento cheese.”

The pimento cheese concept follows an introduction by Chick-fil-A for the Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich, which was offered as a seasonal entrée on a grilled chicken filet. The company also recently launched two new coffee drinks and a brownie dessert.
