Lego has expanded its art collection with a 2D piece that is not only the largest collection that it has ever produced, but it's also one the toymaker says will transcend the globe. The company has launched an 11,695-piece Art World Map that has 2D Tiles specifically for global Lego builders.

The new Lego Art World Map will transport Lego builders to another world as they are able to customize their brick building with pins that they can use to map out their desired destinations or places they have already visited.

The map can also be arranged in three different configurations through 40 interconnecting base plates that are divided into three sections, taking a Lego master’s favorite locale front and center.

The map itself measures 25.5 inches high by 40.5 inches wide and comes with a soundtrack that features stories from travel experts that have been curated to inspire Lego builders from around the world.

Among the featured world-travels are tales from Torbjørn C. Pedersen, who was the “first person in history to visit every country in unbroken journey without flying,” Lego said.

The Art World Map also comes with a coffee-table instruction booklet, white brick-built frame, and two hanging elements for displaying.

Lego will sell the Art World Map on Lego.com and at Lego stores globally starting on June 1. The retail price of the map is $249.99. It will also be available at other global retailers starting on Aug. 1.

“We know that our adult fans love to travel, but many haven’t been able to do so for over a year now,” Fiorella Groves, Creative Lead for LEGO Art, said in a statement. “We thought that there was no better way of helping explore the world while relaxing in the comfort of their home than by allowing them to build, rebuild, plan and reminisce through building.

“We hope the Lego Art World Map will inspire new adventures in some, and help others relive and celebrate wonderful travel memories from the past,” she added.
