Where Is Daniel Radcliffe Now? ‘Harry Potter’ Alum Has Big Movies Coming
Daniel Radcliffe will forever be known as The Boy Who Lived after playing Harry Potter in the Warner Bros. film franchise, but that hasn’t stopped the actor from working to expand his resume since completing the series in 2011. In celebration of J.K. Rowling and her lead character Harry Potter’s birthday Monday, find out where Radcliffe is today.
Fans looking for their dose of Radcliffe are in luck. The 28-year-old has three films currently in the works. First up in 2017 is the action-adventure title “Jungle.” The film, based on the true story novel by Yossi Ghinsberg, follows a backpacker who travels to escape the entrapments of every day life. When he comes upon a tour guide (played by Thomas Kretschmann) he and his friends travel to the Bolivian jungle only to discover it’s not exactly the adventure they were anticipating.
Those in favor of crime-dramas can anticipate Radcliffe’s starring role in “Beast of Burden.” While the film isn’t due to release until 2018, the synopsis reveals what’s in store for his character. The Jesper Ganslandt-led movie will follow a pilot who tries to slip past federal agents while transporting drugs across the U.S. border. Radcliffe’s co-stars in the movie include Pablo Schreiber and Grace Gummer.

Radcliffe also has a film in pre-production. There is no release date scheduled for “Escape from Pretoria” just yet, but the “Harry Potter” alum is listed in one of two starring roles. Radcliffe will play Tim Jenkin, an imprisoned man who plans to escape being accused of being a terrorist for working for the African National Congress.
“Political without being polemical, ‘Escape From Pretoria’ is a rare combination of genre and drama, and I am delighted to bring together the potent combination of Daniel Radcliffe and Francis Annan on this astonishing true story,” former “Harry Potter” producer David Barron said of the project in May.
Since starring in the last Potter film, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2,” Radcliffe has landed dozens of roles in blockbusters and indies. His part playing the villain in the sequel “Now You See Me 2” grossed $334 million at the international box office. However, unlike “Swiss Army Man,” which was slammed for its flatulating corpse storyline, it failed to receive positive reviews.
Radcliffe also starred in “Victor Frankenstein,” playing Igor, “Kill Your Darlings,” “Imperium” and “The Woman in Black” to name a few.
Radcliffe has also jumped to TV following his breakout role as Harry Potter. In 2012, he lent his voice to the series “Robot Chicken” playing Thomas the Tank Engine and Mullet Kid. The same year he appeared in the show “A Young Doctor’s Notebook and Other Stories” alongside Jon Hamm. He also voiced two characters on “The Simpsons” and played himself in “BoJack Horseman” in 2015.

Still, as Radcliffe moves on professionally, he doesn’t want the world to forget about his breakout role and the films that made him a household name. “I don’t want people to forget about Harry Potter, I’m incredibly proud of those films,” he told UK’s The Independent in 2016.
“I also don’t want to repeat myself in terms of what I did with Harry,” he added, saying that at the time, he hadn’t been given much credit for playing more diverse roles but still considered himself blessed as an actor.
“Really, it’s just what most actors want, as varied a career as possible. I’m just lucky enough to be in a position where I can do that,” he said.
