Where Have Fans Seen 'To All The Boys' New Star Jordan Fisher Before?
When Netflix dropped the highly anticipated second trailer for the sequel to “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” on Jan. 22, fans lost their minds at the hint of conflict in main character Lara Jean’s (Lana Condor) heart. The sequel, “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You,” introduces one of Lara Jean’s old loves, John Ambrose, played by Jordan Fisher. The trailer had many fans immediately begin questioning where they had seen the actor before.
At the age of 25, Fisher is no stranger to playing teenagers. He told The New York Post that he’s “grown” but “I just look 17 when I shave my face.”
One of his earliest roles in 2012 cast him as Jacob, the secret half-brother to Grace Bowman on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” alongside Shailene Woodley. Although he was an actual teenager at the time (18), it seems producers and directors continue to typecast him.
He went on to appear in “Teen Beach Movie” and its sequel, “Teen Beach 2.” In 2015, he began playing another recurring role, but this time on Disney Channel’s “Liv and Maddie.” Portraying Liv’s love interest, Holden Dippledorf, garnered him a new fan base of amongst tweens.
What many people don’t know about Fisher, is that he can sing and dance as well as act. His triple-threat talent landed him a role in “Grease: Live!” cementing his status as a teen “heartthrob.” Fisher grabbed a guitar and adorned a bad boy persona to play Doody in the TV production, one of the members of the T-birds gang.
Broadway fans were then introduced to Fisher in 2016 when at 22, he played the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in Broadway’s “Hamilton.” He must have done something to impress creator Lin-Manuel Miranda because he went on to sing alongside him for Disney’s “Moana” soundtrack.
Fisher’s latest role has him back on Broadway and again playing a teenager, starring as the lead character Evan Hansen in “Dear Evan Hansen.” Fisher said he has “never had a more difficult time learning something,” in reference to the character’s quirky dialogue.
Fisher’s fans can catch him in “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You” when it releases on Netflix on Feb. 12.
