The Obamas left the White House earlier this year after eight years in office. Soon after, the couple took off for a brief vacation during which they relaxed on Richard Branson’s private island, went waterskiing, and almost broke the internet when people couldn’t get over the “chill side” of the former president.
During the same vacation, a similar video of the couple went viral where Michelle Obama was spotted sporting short braids and a hat as the couple waved to adoring fans.
There is no information on when and where the latest photo was captured but some believe that it could be during a visit to the French Polynesian Islands, where Obama is currently writing his memoir.
The former first lady has been enjoying her life by visiting museums, indulging in brunches, taking SoulCycle classes, visiting local schools. Michelle Obama also signed a major book deal with Penguin Randomhouse.
However, she is usually spotted with her regular blowout and the picture of her natural hair seemed like a breath of fresh air. Her hair stylist Johnny Wright, in a 2015 interview with The Root said she had been natural for several years, also giving in to the possibility that she may be spotted that way in public.
“I don’t know. Maybe on vacation she will,” Wright said at the time. “She is 100 percent natural now. It is a possibility.”
Here are some tweets that demonstrate the myriad of feelings that Michelle Obama’s natural curly hair photo has generated:
