A 24-year-old Nebraska woman who went missing last week is likely in danger, police said Tuesday citing the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

Sydney Loofe from Lincoln, Lancaster County, vanished following a date with someone she met online, according to her family.

“Circumstances surrounding her disappearance are concerning,” Lincoln Police Chief Jim Bliemeister said in a news conference, however, authorities did not confirm foul play.

Bliemeister said Loofe was last seen in Wilber, in the neighboring county of Saline, last Wednesday, adding that his department is working with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies to find the woman.

The 5-foot-7-inch blonde was reported missing Nov. 16 after she didn't show up at the Menards showroom she worked at on 27th Street and Cornhusker Highway.

On Wednesday morning, she told her friend on Snapchat she had gone on a date with a woman she met online Tuesday night, and was planning to meet the date again Wednesday night.

Lincoln police officers said they had conducted interviews and followed leads, but did not confirm whether they had questioned Loofe's date.

Loofe's family circulated a flier saying they believe she was abducted, adding that her phone pinged off a cellphone tower at Wilber, 40 miles southwest of Lincoln, but has since been disabled.

“We’ve had very few leads but haven’t lost our hope that she will return safely soon,” her mom Susie Loofe wrote on Facebook.

Her parents, Susie and George Loofe of Neligh, said it's "extremely odd" their daughter had left her car at home in northeast Lincoln.

"She was planning on coming home that night," Susie said, according to local media reports.

Loofe, who worked as a cashier at the Menards outlet, has a spinal disorder and walks in a different way, her friend Terra Gehrig reportedly said. She was last seen wearing a white Columbia-brand jacket and a cream-colored shirt, People magazine reported.

“We don’t even know truly where to start,” Loofe's mom told the Lincoln Journal Star. “It’s a waiting game.”

The flyers shared on social media show that Loofe has distinctive tattoos — one that has the words “Everything will be wonderful someday” on her arm, a yin yang sign below her elbow and the word “Believe” on her wrist.

Anyone with information about Loofe's whereabouts was asked to contact police at 402-441-600.
