Which ‘Amazing Race’ Season 29 Team Will Be Eliminated In Athens?
Six teams are still competing when it comes to season 29 of “The Amazing Race,” and the competition is not only heating up, but teams are starting to realize they need to do whatever it takes when it comes to getting and staying ahead, even if it means betraying some of their earlier alliances.
Spoiler Alert: The ending of Season 29, Episode 6 “Have Fun And Get It Done” Is Discussed Below
Season 29’s teams have encountered drama amongst themselves because of their differing personalities in some cases, but the focus has officially shifted on working together to be one of the teams that makes it to the final three and have the best chance to cross the finish line and win the $1 million prize. As teams who have often found themselves at the bottom try to find a way to break through to the top, and another Double U-Turn looms on the horizon, the alliances that have been keeping teams from turning on one another could be tested.

So as the race moves to Athens, Greece, which team seems most likely to be the first to fall short of the final? Here’s our ranking of where we think the teams will fall by the time the leg comes to an end.
Matt Ladley And Redmond Ramos (#TheBoys)
Matt and Redmond have been strong competitors from the beginning, despite not getting a first place finish until Venice. With their strong performance throughout the competition and finally an enviable first place spot, chances are better than ever that they could make it not only through the end of the next leg, but to the final three. However, there is one thing which stands in their way. The U-Turn won’t likely be a threat to them if the other teams target them, (they already managed to survive a U-Turn earlier in the competition), but they are also the only team thus far that has not kept things even when it comes to performing Roadblock tasks. Whereas every other team has seen each member complete three Roadblocks each (save for Becca and Floyd who skipped the Roadblock in leg 5 by completing the Fast-Forward), Matt and Redmond have not. Matt completed the Roadblocks in Zanzibar and Norway, but Redmond has done the rest. If they continue in that pattern, they could get to a point where Matt will have to complete all of the remaining Roadblocks from then on. If there is a task that proves to be too difficult for him, it could be the team’s downfall.
Becca Droz and Floyd Pierce (#TeamFun)
Dropping back to the number two spot doesn’t mean fans of Becca and Floyd should be worried about their status in the race. They’re still strong competitors, and their attitudes about the race are seriously infectious.
It’s been impossible for them to get on the bad side of other teams, and that doesn’t seem likely to change. But if another team wants to knock them out because of their strength (similarly to how Seth and Olive were taken down), they may need to watch themselves in the next leg.
Tara Carr and Joey Covino (#TeamMomandDad)
Though they’re a strong team, Tara and Joey may want to watch themselves when the race hits Athens. Their strong finished overall will put a target on their backs when it comes to the U-Turn, but most of all, of the remaining teams, they’re the most universally disliked as well. They have tended to remain as far away from the drama other teams have had as possible, and have largely run the race on their own, and that choice will likely lead to others wanting to take them out. If a plan similar to the one that was enacted against Vanck and Ashton in Lake Como, Italy is put into place, then the only thing that could help them would be if Mike and Liz were also U-turned.
Brooke Camhi and Scott Flanary (#TeamBrookeandScott)
These two are the only team that still seems to have moments where they just cannot get along, no matter how hard they try, and that happened again in Venice, after they ran into trouble finding a water taxi to take them to the Roadblock. That inability to really get along or work together that well all the time could be a downfall. However, they did also have a breakthrough moment for themselves, when Brooke managed to finish making her mask before both London and Liz. If that happens to be the start of better things for them, they may finally have a real shot at making it further.
London Kaye and Logan Bauer (#TeamLoLo)
LoLo tried to play dirtier in Venice, pretending they didn’t hear or see Liz and Mike when they were calling their names, and also being unhelpful when Scott and Brooke asked them where they found the clue they were all looking for.
While the duo needs to up their competitive nature and be a little less friendly if they want to finally get out of the bottom of the pack, it didn’t really give them any sort of advantage, as they still finished only one spot ahead of Liz and Mike, who came in last. In fact, Liz and Mike are likely the only reason the two may make it past the next leg as well.
Liz Espey and Michael Rado (#TeamLizandMike)
Sadly, it seems like the butcher and auctioneer may finally come to their last leg. They surprised everyone with not one, but two first place finishes in a row in legs two and three, after just making it past the first leg, and only because Jennifer and Kevin had incurred a penalty that wasn’t finished before they had checked in. They fell again in leg 5 after getting on one another’s nerves pretty badly in Norway, and were saved because the leg was continuing on. They then reclaimed their glory a bit more in Lake Como, finishing fourth. However, Liz couldn’t complete the Roadblock ahead of other teams in Venice, which left them in last place.
Luck was on their side because it was a non-elimination leg, but because they were spared now, they will have to perform a Speed Bump (an extra task that only they will have to complete) in Athens. The other teams have often noted that the two likely couldn’t overtake the rest of them in a foot race, but if they seem to be coming back strong again in the next leg, the other teams may try to take advantage of that information by U-Turning them. And even if they managed to complete every task quickly and efficiently, being forced to do a Roadblock, two Detours and a Speed Bump would likely be an obstacle to big to overcome.
