Which 'Amazing Race' Season 30 Team Will Be Eliminated In Zimbabwe?
The competition has officially reached a turning point on "The Amazing Race," and teams are now no longer afraid to play dirty if needed in order to get ahead and stay ahead. Now, the threat of a second double U-Turn, as well as a surprise twist, could make things even more intense as the race heads to Zimbabwe.
Spoiler Alert: The Ending Of Season 30, Episode 5, "The Claws Are Out" is discussed below.
After getting on a second flight to Prague which put them at a disadvantage on time, Jessica and Cody opted to be the only team who utilized the Double U-Turn that waited for teams when they arrived. Because Violinists Trevor and Chris were the only ones behind them, the two found themselves forced to be the only ones completing both Detour tasks. Though they fought hard and raced well throughout the leg, they were unable to really make up the distance, and were eliminated after still arriving to the mat in last place.
Now, with only six teams still remaining, and more competition looming, the big bullseye on one team's backs could see them being targeted by the rest, but Phil Keoghan's tease that a new challenge was headed their way, it really could be anyone's leg. Still, at least one more team will be forced to say goodbye, if not two, by the time the two-hour episode comes to an end.
Who may be at risk of elimination? Here's our ranking of where we think teams will fall by the time the leg comes to an end:
Kristi Leskinen And Jen Hudak (#TeamExtreme)
Though they haven't had a first-place finish since Leg one, Kristi and Jen have always been in the top three finishers throughout the race, reclaiming the top spot in Prague. Though other teams could try to target them if they beat them to the U-Turn board, it's unlikely anything will stop these two and see them getting knocked out of the competition.
Eric And Daniel Guiffreda (#TheFirefighters)
After initially being one of the teams always at the bottom, the firefighter brothers have really turned their race around, and seem likely to still be able to stick around. However, they have made critical mistakes in past legs that prove they aren't necessarily the team to beat and could still be taken down.
Henry Zhang And Evan Lynyak (#TeamYale)
After a few legs where they struggled, Team Yale seems to be back on track to be a team that is worth paying attention to. They aren't likely to go anywhere anytime soon.
Alexander Rossi And Conor Daly (#TeamIndyCar)
Though they did have a squabble during the Prague leg, and found themselves once again firmly in the middle of the pack, Alex and Conor still are strong competitors who don't seem as though they are likely to get knocked out just yet.
Lucas Bocanegra And Brittany Austin (#TeamOceanRescue)
After finishing first in the previous leg, Lucas and Brittany once again found themselves near the bottom of the pack, which could be a bad sign for them going forward. If they can't find their way back up to the top again quickly, then they could find themselves last to the mat much quicker.
Cody Nickson And Jessica Graf (#TeamBigBrother)
If there is one team that has put a target on their own backs, it is definitely Team Big Brother. Not only did their decision to U-Turn Trevor and Chris mark them as the ones who aren't afraid to be ruthless, but Jessica's decision to intentionally mislead Brittany and Alex during the Roadblock so she could finish it first also irked them both. Now that they are still behind the other two teams and a U-Turn is once again looming, they could find themselves getting a big taste of their own medicine in the next leg.
"The Amazing Race" airs Wednesdays on CBS. Starting Feb. 7, the show moves to 9 p.m. EST.
