Which 'Amazing Race' Season 30 Team Will Win $1 Million Prize?
As the race heads to the final destination in China before heading back to the U.S. for a final leg, someone else will have to fall and miss out on the chance to win $1 Million.
Spoiler Alert: The Ending Of Season 30, Episode 7, "The First Rule Of Amazing Race Club" is discussed below.
Teams weren't forced to worry as much about making it to the next leg during the first half of the double episode, which saw Team Ocean Rescue make a crucial mistake on the CBS show. Lucas lost his passport en route to Bahrain—which forced him and Brittany to fall behind the other teams in Dubai. Though they were able to get him a new temporary passport issued so they could continue racing, by the time they arrived at the next destination, the other four teams had finished their leg, eliminating the recently-engaged pair.
In the second leg, which took teams to Thailand, things seemed even, until Henry and Evan made a mistake during their Detour which dropped them in to last place. They were spared elimination but will have a Speed Bump headed their way when the race heads to China.
All four remaining teams have some huge strengths that give them an edge in the competition, but still, one will have to fall before the race heads back to the U.S., and two others will find themselves unable to cross the finish line first. So how will the final two legs play out, and which team seems most likely to win the $1 million? Here's our prediction for how the final legs will go:
Henry Zhang and Evan Lynyak (#TeamYale): 4th Place
Unfortunately for Team Yale, their ability to overcome seems likely to run out. While they were spared elimination on the last leg, they are the odd team out. They have preferred to work independently of the rest of the teams, which can work for them, but doesn't foster any positive feelings from the remaining teams, who are all in an alliance with one another. Teams have been known to try and find ways to ensure the members of their alliance all wind up in final legs, so if there is a way the other three can all assure themselves an edge over Henry and Evan they will take it.
In addition, the two have their speed bump to try and overcome, which gives them another disadvantage. At this point in the competition, with other teams exhibiting that they can be strong, it doesn't look well for them when it comes to the finale leg.
Cody Nickson and Jessica Graf (#TeamBigBrother): 3rd Place
Their alliance and their ability to play dirty when needed will carry Jessica and Cody to the final leg, but compared to the other teams, they have bigger weaknesses that will keep them from winning. Overall, the last two legs in Bahrain and Thailand showcased that Cody was carrying a large amount of the weight for their team, as both he carried the most timber and wound up milking the camel in Bahrain, as Jessica stood by and watched. Then, in Thailand, he also dug in to the mud to catch frogs during their detour and caught all of them in the end. If Jessica continues to struggle to really contribute to their success, then it won't help them win the $1 million.
Alex Rossi And Connor Daly (#TeamIndyCar): 2nd Place
Though they had a rougher start at the beginning of the Race, they have quickly established themselves as one of the strongest teams left in the competition. Their partnership is good, and they have some clear advantages over the rest of the teams when it comes to their physical strength. They are also definitely riding high when it comes to their performance in the last two legs, where they came in first both times. They also now have the most first place finishes of the remaining teams.
However, despite these strengths, the two also don't always think things through as logically at first. A prime example was when they had to bring 300 pounds of timber to be weighed in Bahrain. The two opted to to bring one heavy piece over to the scale at a time by lifting together, instead of doing like the rest of the teams did and each carrying over two pieces at once. This allowed Kristi and Jen to finish the task just ahead of them, temporarily costing them their lead.
Because of small little things like that, it seems more likely that they could make a similarly simple decision that costs them the race in the final leg.
Kristi Leskinen and Jen Hudak: WINNERS
Though they've faltered a little bit on the last couple of legs, Kristi and Jen are the most primed team to win. They have never placed below third in a leg when they've been partnered together, which proves how strong they are. They are among the fiercest competitors in the competition.
What will give them the edge over Alex and Conor, who seem like their strongest competition, is that the two of them also do methodically think things through at a quick pace. Without overthinking the best way to complete a task, they still take a minute to think of the best way to make sure they can get it done quicker. This allows them to then complete the tasks faster, even if they start a minute or two after another team. This will be what carries them not only into the final leg, but across the finish line first.
"The Amazing Race" Season 30 finale airs Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
