Which ‘Legacies’ Characters Were On ‘The Vampire Diaries’?
“Legacies” will bring viewers back to Mystic Falls, familiar territory for “The Vampire Diaries” fans. The spinoff takes place more than a decade after “TVD” left off, but there are still some familiar faces around town (all of whom have aged particularly well). Fans will recognize these names from the original CW series:
Alaric Saltzman — Matt Davis, who started out as a teacher on “The Vampire Diaries,” is now headmaster at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted, the school he started with Caroline (Candice King) in the drama’s series finale. He is trying to raise his twin daughters as well as help teach a school full of supernatural youngsters on “Legacies.” Let’s just say he’s got his hands full.
Josie Saltzman —“The Vampire Diaries” left off when Josie and Lizzie were just little witches, but now they’re teenagers. Josie, played by Kaylee Bryant, is very caring, almost to a fault. She is fresh off a breakup with her ex-girlfriend and has some codependency issues. Expect Josie to do a little too much to keep her sister happy.
Lizzie Saltzman — Jenny Boyd plays the blonde Saltzman twin, and though she has the clothes and popularity, she doesn’t have it all together. The teen witch is dealing with bipolar disorder, and that’ll play a big role in her reactions to seemingly minor events.
Jeremy Gilbert — Steven R. McQueen will play the vampire hunter in “Legacies” episode 3. That’s not too surprising. After all, the series finale of “The Vampire Diaries” showed him teaching at the school.
Matt Donovan — Zach Roerig’s policeman has been upgraded to Sheriff, which fans learned in an episode of “The Originals” earlier this year. He still isn’t a big fan of the supernatural community. In fact, he even slips vervain into the coffee supply at local convenience stores just to make sure the Salvatore School vampires aren’t playing any mind games.
Still, Matt knows that Alaric isn’t his enemy. When something looks a little too strange, he’ll give the headmaster a call.
Caroline Forbes-Salvatore — Candice King’s appearance has not been confirmed yet, but her character has a role in the show. Lizzie and Josie’s mother is mysteriously missing in the first season of “Legacies.” Could it have something to do with the Gemini curse? It seems like it’s just a matter of time before Caroline shows up.
“Legacies” has plenty of “TVD” alums, but fewer characters from “The Originals.” There’s been no word yet about any “Originals” characters, besides series star Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell), showing up on “Legacies.” While there are still several Mikaelsons who could visit Mystic Falls, it doesn’t sound like they’re coming to see Hope any time soon.
“Legacies” Season 1 premieres Thursday at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
