Hollywood celebrities and political figures joined President Barack Obama on Wednesday night for the White House State Dinner to honor British Prime Minister David Cameron and celebrate the relationship with Britain.
According to ABC News, the Dinner was the largest hosted by Obama yet to date. The 300+ guest list included Obama's campaign financers along with the likes of George Clooney, Anna Wintour, Sir Richard Branson Warren Buffet, Harvey Weinstein, the cast of Downton Abbey and Idria Elba, to name a few.
Guests dined on Bison Wellington in addition to brussel sprouts and steamed lemon pudding in backyard celebration tent on the South Lawn of the White House decorated in purple and silver.
Obama toasted Cameron in his opening speech, highlighting their personal relationship.
In good times and in bad, he's just the kind of partner that you want at your side. I trust him. He says what he does, and he does what he says. And I've seen his character, Obama said.
He has pressed the reset button on the moral authority of the entire free world, Cameron said. Barack has not rushed into picking fights, but is a steward of America's resources of hard and soft power... He's taken time to make considered decisions, drawing down troops from Iraq and surging in Afghanistan. He's found a new voice for America with the Arab people.
Michelle Obama and Samantha Cameron both wore blue floor-length gowns designed by Georgina Chapman of Marchesa and Alessandra Rich, respectively.
